Se celebró la 53ª edición de los ACM Awards, los premios de la Academia de la música Country, desde el MGM Grand Garden Arena en Las Vegas. No hubo grandes ganadores, en el sentido que Brothers Osborne, Miranda Lambert y Chris Stapleton ganaron dos premios cada uno. Reba McEntire presentó el evento, por primera vez en seis años, en su 17ª vez que presentaba el evento.
Hubo muchas actuaciones, como viene siendo ya habitual en cada entrega de premios, donde cada vez más lo importante es actuar y no los premios. Y hubo también tiempo para recordar los 90, con los dúos de Alan Jackson con Jon Pardi y Chattahoochee, Toby Keith con Blake Shelton y Should’ve been a cowboy o Reba McEntire junto a Kelly Clarkson con Does he love you.
Kenny Chesney fue el encargado de actuar en primer lugar con su nuevo single, Get along y hubo también actuaciones como las de Bebe Rexha con Florida Georgia Line con Meant to be, el actual #1, el nuevo single de Carrie Underwood, recuperada de su carrera con Cry pretty. Pero también actuaron Midland con su éxito Drinkin’ problem, o Thomas Rhett con Marry me.
Volviendo a los premios el más importante, Entertainment of the Year recayó en Jason Aldean, un año más la mejor vocalista femenina fue Miranda Lambert y en otro premio cantado, Chris Stapleton se llevó el masculino. El grupo fue Old Dominion, una pequeña sorpresa por la competencia que había.
Chris Stapleton se llevó el premio al álbum del año, con From a room: volume 1, también cantado. El single del año tampoco ofrecía dudas, Body like a back road de Sam Hunt y el single del año fue para Tin Man de Miranda Lambert. Keith Urban con Carrie Underwood se llevaron el evento del año con The fighter.
