Beyoncé y Adele lideran las nominaciones a los MTV Video Music Awards 2016, la cantante lidera al resto de artistas con 11 nominaciones por las 8 de Adele. Estas 11 nominaciones sin embargo no superan las 13 que conquistó Lady Gaga en 2010. Pero si la valen para tener 41 nominaciones en toda su historia y se la artista femenina con más nominaciones de la historia por delante de Rihanna con 27 y Lady Gaga con 22.
Las 8 nominaciones de Adele, 7 corresponden a Hello, su vídeo y primer single de 25. Scream de Michael Jackson y Janet Jackson es el vídeo que obtuvo más nominaciones con 11 en 1995. Drake con 6, Ariana Grande con 5 y Rihanna y David Bowie con 4 le siguen en total de nominaciones.
Para vídeo del año están nominados están Adele con Hello, Beyonce con Formation, Drake con Hotline Bling, Justin Bieber con Sorry y Kanye West con Famous. A partir de hoy martes todos los fans podrán votar por los premios, Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Female Video y la nueva categoría Best Long Form Video category en la web vma.mtv.com. La votación para el mejor nuevo artista estará abierta hasta la pre gala de los premios. Los premios para las redes sociales, y la canción del verano serán anunciadas próximamente.
La ceremonia de entrega será en el Madison Square Garden en Nueva York el 28 de agosto.
