Se entregaron en Nashville, en el Bridgestone Arena los premios de la CMT, los premios de los vídeos country, los terceros en discordia tras los de la CMA y ACM, pero no por ello tienen menos importancia como se vio en las actuaciones y premiados.
Blake Shelton ganó el premio al vídeo del año con I’ll name the dogs y además el premio al artista masculino. Hubo muchas actuaciones, Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset de Luke Bryan, Drowns The Whiskey de Jason Aldean aunque sin Miramba Lambert que aparece en la canción original, lo nuevo de Dan + Shay con Tequila. Una de las actuaciones curiosas de la noche fue la de Backstreet Boys, con su último single Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. El grupo ya había triunfado el año pasado con un dúo en la meca country.
Lo más de nuevo de Little Big Town que además presentaron la gala, Summer fever también tuvo su propia actuación. Otra de las novedades country del momento llegó de la mano de Sam Hunt con Downtown’s Dead. Florida Georgia Line actuaron con Simple.
Por supuesto sin olvidarnos de la reina de los premios, Carrie Underwood con Cry Pretty que sumó un premio más para llegar a los 18, más que nadie.
