Se celebraron los iHeartRadio Music Awards desde el Forum de Inglewood en California. Fue la noche de Ed Sheeran, en unos premios muy repartidos, con muchas categorías. Sheeran ganó 4 premios, pero los más importantes, Canción del año, disco pop del año y artista masculino del año fueron los principales. Sheeran actuó además desde Australia, donde está de gira.
Además The Chainsmokers, Luis Fonsi, Bruno Mars, Niall Horan, Harry Styles y Cardi B, entre otros, se llevaron dos premios. Hubo actuaciones de Cardi B y G- Eazy, Camila Cabello con Havana, Maroon 5 con Wait, Eminem con Kehlani y Nowhere fast, Bon Jovi con It’s my life y You give good love a bad name, ganaron el primer Icon Award, Charlie Puth con How long y NERD con Lemon.
Siete de los premios habían sido anunciados con anterioridad. Los presentadores de la gala fueron DJ Khaled y Hailey Baldwin.
