Está nominado a vídeo del año, artista del año, y mejor vídeo de hip-hop. Katy Perry con The Weeknd tienen 5 nominaciones.
Es el primer año en el que los premios juntan las categorías masculinas y femeninas, así no hay premio al mejor vídeo masculino, o mejor vídeo femenino. Así no hay diferencia de género en las categorías.
