Dear Evan Hansen se ha convertido en el mejor musical del año en una nueva edición de los premios Tony, la 71 edición celebrada en Nueva York. En total Dear Evan Hansen además del premio gordo como mejor musical del año, se llevó en total 6 premios. Este año estuvo todo mucho más repartido que el año pasado, donde arrasó Hamilton. Por cierto el presentador fue precisamente Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Bette Midler ganó el premio a la mejor actriz por Hello, Dolly! que fue el mejor revival. Oslo se llevó la mejor obra de teatro. Además hubo premios a actores y actrices más relacionados con el cine como Kevin Kline, o en el caso de Cynthia Nixon y Laurie Metcalf, más con la televisión.
